As a replacement of an existing laser system that cannot be repaired, an amplified fs-Ti-sapphire laser with a repetition frequency of 1 kHz and a pulse length of <100 fs at a fundamental wavelength of 800 nm and power of >3.5 W shall be acquired, for performing photophysical experiments on molecular and polymeric organic and organometallic compounds. These experiments include transient absorption spectroscopy in the visible and near infrared region down to 1600 nm, the broadband fluorescence upconversion spectroscopy, and two-photon induced fluorescence spectroscopy. These methods serve to elucidate photoinduced dynamics in the above-mentioned chromophore systems, particularly with regard to photoinduced electron transfer, fast intersystem crossing in compounds with heavy atoms, and energy transfer processes in donor-acceptor dyads and triads. Here, we focus especially on the transition between weakly and strongly coupled systems which is very sensitive towards coupling to the surrounding bath (solvent).
