Analysis of the heat stress transcription factors network of Arabidopsis thaliana
Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse
Compared to other eukaryotes with 1-3 heat stress transcription factors (Hsf), the plant Hsf family shows a striking multiplicity with more than 20 members. Despite many conserved features, members of the Hsf family show strong diversification of expression pattern and function within the family. Research on Arabidopsis Hsfs opened a new era with genome-wide transcriptome profiling in combination with the availability of knock-out lines. The output from these analyses provides increasing evidence that individual Hsfs have unique functions as part of different signal transduction pathways operating in response to environmental stress as well as during development. In the period funded we could decipher three specific pathways including Hsfs A2, A3 with distinct roles in the heat stress response and HsfA9 as a key regulator during seed development. Furthermore we participated in a review about the heat stress response in plants as well as about the diversification within the Hsf family.
