Final Report Abstract
We have explored the possibilities of using Poisson wavelets for the parametrization of potential fields, in particular of the Geomagnetic field. This has been applied to the regional modeling using only local expansions. In order to take into account the smoothness of the fields at sattellite level, we have devised a data reduction strategy based on local expansions into harmonic polynomials at sattellite alittude. The wavelet methods we have devolped significantly helped in preparing and analysing the data for the World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map.
