Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

In conclusion, we have designed, synthesized and characterized two different types of melal complexes, iron(ll) bispyrazolyl pyridine compounds and letranuclear Co(ll) grid complexes to be used as defined spin impurities in single moelcule transport measumients. For the first time, a novel iron(II) ST complex bearing acetyl protected thiol anchor groups was achieved synthetical liy. The X-ray structure of complex I in the LS slae revealed the distance of separation of 2.6 nm between the two thiol end groups. The molecular complex undergoes a thermally reversible ST at 277 K with a hysteresis loop width of ca. 8 K. Investigations of the tunable electronic transport through the molecular ST unit al the single molecule level have revealed interesting features, which can be attributed to Kondo effect in the high spin state as well as a high spin/low spin transisiton. A clear assignment, however, could not be achieved so far.
