Integrating mass spectrometry, network and structure modelling to study virus-host interactions in Arenaviruses (B01)

Arenaviruses can cause severe disease in humans. Lassa Virus (LASV) causing Lassa fever is especially important. These enveloped (-)ssRNA viruses encode only four viral proteins. Hence, many host proteins need to be recruited throughout the virus life cycle. In this project, we will develop an integrated approach that can identify virus-host interactions that are conserved across the family. These can then be targeted by peptide inhibitors. Such a pipeline joining modelling and structural mass spectrometry can easily be adapted to "Disease X" in the future and outpaces entirely experimental approaches.
