The variety of new parameterisations and numerical schemes for general circulation models developed in the first and second phases of the CRC call for a further synthesis project in the third phase: In S3, we will now specifically analyse their impact in coupled climate simulations and how this might differ from the uncoupled setup, considering both present-day and future climates based on the CMIP DECK configurations. Moreover, we will put the effect of these parameterisations into perspective by targeting a parallel evaluation in both ICON and IFS-FESOM and assessing if, where, and how they perform differently in the CRC's main climate models.
