Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417002380

In this project, two approaches are being pursued to enable the complete circular use of carbon fiber reinforcements (CF). In the first approach, commercially available polymer-impregnated CFs reinforcements are separated electrochemically and broken down into their individual components. In the second approach, mineral-impregnated carbon fiber reinforcements (MCF) based on magnesium oxychloride cement are being investigated. Both processes are characterized by a favorable environmental balance and improved recyclability. Based on these studies, experimental methods are investigated to weaken the interphase of carbon-reinforced concrete in order to achieve an easier separation of the reinforcement from the surrounding concrete.
