The work program consists of eight work packages (WP), each of which plays a significant role in the research process. Next to two longer field-work stays in Chicago, they include four publications, several international presentations and three workshops as defined milestones. WP 1 and 2 serve to approach the field and conduct empirical surveys (participant observations, interviews, surveys) in various Chicago neighborhoods. WP 3, 4 and 5 focus on the analysis and evaluation of the empirical data as well as a possible follow-up survey. In the last three WPs, the results are interpreted, contextualized and critically reflected in dialogue with other research contexts.
