Project Details
5-Laser Cell Sorter
Subject Area
Neurosciences
Term
Funded in 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 546593285
Our multidisciplinary team of researchers seeks funding for the acquisition of a 5-Laser Full Spectrum Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting System to enhance our capabilities in bacterial, yeast, parasite, human, and plant cell studies. The instrument will be accessible to all research departments of the Institute of Biology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and external users. Currently, the only existing cell sorting system at the Institute of Biology is a standard sorter purchased in 2010. This instrument is not suitable for the specific, modern applications by the different users, such as spectral cytometry for panel-based immune profiling and sensitive sorting of fluorophore labeled cells and nuclei with varying degrees of autofluorescence. The acquisition of the new cell sorting system will enable high-throughput, high-purity sorting of diverse cell populations. This technology will be harnessed for various applications, including studies of host-parasite interactions and immune responses, genetic engineering of biosynthetic pathways, single-cell genomics, transcriptomics, thereby advancing our understanding of different biological systems, multicellular heterogeneity and biotechnological applications.
