Project Details
Mechanisms of Endoplasmic Reticulum morphogenesis (P02)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 511488495
This project investigates the molecular mechanisms by which the morphology of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is generated and dynamically remodelled. Specifically, it will test the hypothesis that reversible clustering of reticulon homology domain proteins controls ER shape and volume. Furthermore, it will explore how complex ER structures, such as stacks and whorls, are formed. Through these studies, this project aims to advance our understanding of ER morphogenesis and, ultimately, enable new means to manipulate ER architecture for therapeutic benefit.
