The transfer centre 29 "Assembly Automation by Integration of Designand Assembly Planning" has the objective to transfer the results of the collaborative research centre 336 into industry. Thereby, the elaborated strategies, methods and tools shall be practically adapted and extended. Subject is the optimization of the interdisciplinary collaboration of designers and planners as well as the coordination of locally distributed development processes. Furthermore, comprehensive it-systems and cost-efficient assembly systems are regarded. These approaches shall synchronize tasks and make procedures more flexible within the enterprise in order to answer increasing market demands. The project "Coordination and Controlling of Distributed Development Processes" optimizes the management of process steps or product components that have been outsourced to suppliers. Therefore, several tools are applied, such as a project monitor, a protocol system, and an information platform. In addition, the willingness for cooperation, as well as strategic, operative, and process-related measures are regarded, e.g. distribution of responsibilities, information flows, and control loops within development. Further projects are starting in 2002. One projectwill engage with the integration of design and assembly planning by aprocess model based on process building blocks. Another project willengage with the selection of cost-efficient assembly systems alreadyduring and together with design and construction.
