We investigate cavity-based control of the collective behavior of magnetic degrees of freedom (DOFs) in quantum materials. Specifically, we consider photons in a cavity to mediate long-range interactions between spins and study their capability of controlling the magnetic order and entangling the spins of the material. Moreover, the cavity output light will be used as a real-time, non-invasive probe of spin correlations and entanglement. This goal will be approached in steps of increasing complexity. The first step involves tuning spin-spin interaction by photons in simple paramagnets coupled to a microwave cavity. Then we next explore THz cavities to control and probe competing orders and metastable dynamics in correlated materials. The ultimate and future goal is stabilizing quantum spin-liquid phases.
