This proposal aims to obtain a new type of protective coatings by combining different coating methods: chemical-thermal treatment with the help of activating substances from gas phase transport of the coating elements (pack cementation) and coating with a filler-loaded (Si, B and others) low-oxygen containing preceramic polymer. The combination of both application methods has not been shown so far. Combining both processes creates different oxidation protection layers, some of which are graded, that provide better protection due to their high chemical compatibility than multilayer systems designed by either method. Working hypothesis is that, due to the process combination, the amount of pores in the coating is significantly reduced and oxygen diffusion pathways may be blocked. Moreover, it seems possible, that intermediate layers may be thickened by the combination of both methods and/or the presence of element activators. If this process combination is successful a significantly better oxidation protection is provided compared to literature data.
