The research group MiRoVA focuses on the effects of migration of road vehicle automation on the human-machine system, e.g. from a SAE level 0 (manual driving) or SAE level 2 (partially automated driving) to a SAE level 3 (conditionally automated driving) or SAE Level 4 (highly automated driving). Based on an integrated meta model of migration, the MiRoVA group investigates these effects by modeling the interaction and cooperation within the automated vehicle, e.g. with the driver, and with traffic participants outside of the vehicle, e.g. with vulnerable road users or other vehicles. The models will be quantified and evaluated in simulators, and also integrated into an overall traffic simulation. A virtual laboratory enables the researchers to collaborate remotely. The findings on migration effects will be condensed into a data base of interaction and cooperation patterns. The simulation software will be based on the open access SUMO, and will be opened up to the research community after the project.
