Project Details
Upgrade of a 500 MHz NMR spectrometer for liquid samples
Subject Area
Molecular Chemistry
Term
Funded in 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 553944504
The NMR department of the Central Analytics of the University of Paderborn is contact point for the entire university for carrying out structure elucidation of organic and inorganic compounds. The current scientific questions that can be answered with the aid of the device range from the structural elucidation of small molecules, kinetic investigations at variable temperatures up to end group analysis of polymers. In particular, the scientific questions are characterized by a high proportion of heteroatoms, such as in perfluorinated boranes, phosphanes, heterocycles, N-heterocyclic carbenes and metal complexes thereof. This results in special challenges for NMR spectroscopic analysis. The upgrade ensures the efficient and greatly expanded use of the use of the device, as the new triple resonance measuring head with a significantly new experiments that cannot be performed with the current technical equipment.
