Assessment methods and classification models for the reuse of reinforced concrete elements (B02)

Subject Area Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Construction Material Sciences, Chemistry, Building Physics
Term since 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 523205694

Project Description

The reuse of reinforced concrete elements requires a fast but effective characterisation and assessment. As this would be inefficient using standard destructive methods, developing, validating and analysing a targeted set of in-situ and non-destructive testing methods including application and automatisation strategies is a core objective of sub-project B02. The second objective is the element classification from the point of view of durability and remain-ing service life. This is achieved by ranking the elements into resistance classes under predefined reuse scenarios based on the concrete properties, remaining protective concrete cover and inherent degradation.
