Characterisation of edge zones of extracted elements based on x-ray computed to-mography and simulation (B03)

Subject Area Mechanics
Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Term since 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 523205694

Project Description

Sub-project B03 is developing methods to characterise the damage in the edge zones of extracted elements that result from the separation process and may progress under future loads. By combining X-ray computed tomography and automated simulation, the aim is to create the basis for planning suitable fine separation and quantifying tolerable damage in the remaining edge zones. Concepts for the evaluation of the edge zones will be developed that include uncertainties regarding the damage variability at the mesoscale. In addition, the reinforcement position is determined using robot-based X-ray imaging for the attachment of the connecting parts to the extracted elements.
