A04 studies mol2Dmat polaritons using near-field optical microscopy. It will observe the coupling of waveguided and self-hybridized photonic states in hBN and transition metal dichalcogenides to excitons in molecular films. Polaritons will be excited within the optical near-field and imaged during their propagation, giving access to their dispersion, light-matter coupling, and losses in mol2Dmat heterostructures. The project realizes tunable plasmon-polaritons in few-layer graphene using strong molecular charge transfer and exploits them for plasmonic nanostructures with tunable resonances.
