B05 studies charge transfer and the alignment of electronic energy levels in mol2Dmat heterostructures using angle-resolved photoemission and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies. The levels of the molecules and 2D material determine the energy of any resulting charge-transfer exciton. B05 prepares 2D-material bilayers with double-sided functionalization and quantifies charge transfer between molecules and the 2D materials to understand the effects of energy level alignment, intermolecular interactions, and defects on the electric field.
