Synthesis of organic dyes and redox systems for controlled assembly in mol2Dmat heterostructures (C01)

C01 synthesizes novel emissive dyes such as perylenes, diaminodicyanochinodimethanes, and nanographenes, as well as donor and acceptor molecules with and without anchor groups to control their orientation relative to the basal plane of graphene-based materials. Tailoring the length of rigid spacers determines the distance between attached molecules and 2D material surfaces and, therefore, their mutual interaction. Donor and acceptor molecules will be used to control charge transfer and carrier density in 2D semiconductors.
