C06 investigates molecular photochromism in the confinement of transition metal dichalcogenides, graphene, and nanotubes, to gain an in-depth understanding of the involved fundamental processes and to exploit this knowledge for tailored optoelectronic properties of hybrid materials. Diarylethenes will modulate the excitonic insulator phase transition in TiSe2 and TaNiSe5. Dihydropyrenes and spiropyrans will guide photoswitching behavior. Collective excited states of molecular switches on 2D materials will be investigated.
