Project Details
Development of an in vitro platform to study genetic mechanisms driving MASLD/MASH progression (A03)
Subject Area
Gastroenterology
Term
since 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 535081457
Project A03 uses multicellular hepatic organoid models derived from human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to develop an in vitro platform for investigating genetic mechanisms driving MASLD/MASH progression. Using CRISPR-based genetic screens and advanced co-culture models, the project will analyze lipid metabolism, lipotoxicity, and protective networks in hepatocytes. The findings are expected to reveal new therapeutic targets to modulate inflammatory processes and enhance liver regeneration.
