Understanding how the altered lipidome in MASLD modulates hepatic dendritic cell functionality (B04)

Subject Area Gastroenterology
Term since 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 535081457

This project explores the role of the lipidome in regulating dendritic cell (DC) differentiation and functionality in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and steatohepatitis (MASH). B04 will analyze the interplay between specific lipid species and DC subsets to understand their impact on disease progression. Combining cutting-edge spatial multiplex technologies, in-depth lipidomics and full spectrum flow cytometry analysis of hepatic DCs, the spatial and functional relationships between the hepatic lipidome and DCs are characterized. Findings are expected to identify lipid mediators driving DC activation and disease severity in MASLD/MASH and how these can be exploited to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
