Experimental investigation of the load bearing behaviour of textile reinforced concrete under compression load – 3rd Phase: Validation of results in large-scale components

In the first funding phase, small-scale tests were carried out to investigate the uniaxial compressive strength of textile-reinforced concrete (TRC). In the second funding phase, these findings were extended to biaxial compressive stress states with transverse compression and transverse tension. Based on the knowledge gained, the aim of the third funding phase applied for is to carry out experimental investigations on components with biaxial compressive stress states on TRC components. Typical examples with significant compressive components are beams subjected to shear forces, biaxially tensioned continuous slabs (areas with reinforcement in the compression zone), but also hollow core slabs and generally flange and web areas of resolved cross-sections, which are indispensable for economical construction with TRC. As part of the investigations, large-scale component tests are designed and carried out to verify the material models created for biaxial compressive stress states in TRC components. The aforementioned components are to be designed for compressive failure, taking into account a variation of the reinforcement orientation, the reinforcement grades, the reinforcement restraints and the bearing and loading situations. A particular interest is the creation of a measurement layout for recording the stress states both on the component surface and inside the component. The component tests enable the detection of size effects, which can then be integrated into the existing material models. Finally, engineering models are to be developed which can be used as a tool for the design of pressure-loaded TRC components.
