The aim of the pilot project is to advance the possibilities of text-based research on copyrighted data by developing and providing suitable derived text formats, and to lay the foundation for further activities coordinated with other initiatives in this funding program after the pilot phase. Within the framework of the pilot project, methods and procedures relevant to the creation, provision, and use of derived text formats are to be developed, interested disciplines and stakeholders surveyed, and potential derivative data formats identified that have the potential for more extensive projects in Phase 2 of the overall project. The project aims to implement pilot projects for several representative collections and to gather the requirements of different research communities, such as other NFDI consortia. In addition to methodological and algorithmic questions, legal frameworks according to the requirements of the respective target groups will be considered. For further requirements and object types, appropriate methods and procedures must be developed and jointly evaluated in close coordination with the coordination project and projects from work areas 1 and 2.
