The research objective of the transfer project is the development and implementation of practice-based friction modelling for mechanical joining and forming processes, taking industrial process chain influences into account. In cooperation with AUDI AG, comprehensive experimental investigations are being carried out to characterise the friction behaviour in semi-tubular self-pierce riveting processes, taking industrial production influences into account, and transferred into a phenomenological friction model. In cooperation with Hexagon, the friction model is implemented in the simulation software Simufact-Forming, validated and analysed for its robustness.
