The aim of the project is to establish a digital, multilingual, open access, inter- and transdisciplinary academic journal specialising in Latin American Studies. CONFLUENCE stands out in the landscape of regional studies journals in four ways: 1) it focuses on transregional entanglements and intersectional inequalities, starting from a perspective of knowledge asymmetries; 2) it seeks interregional exchange with the Latin American/Caribbean (LAC) region through publication practices, in particular through open access procedures; 3) it promotes young researchers in the field of Latin American and Caribbean studies; 3) it promotes young researchers in international networks that have emerged from collaborative research projects and actively involves them - together with experienced scholars - in publication and review processes; and 4) it develops and tests an innovative review process that is open and trans-parent and is made available as a tool to the scholarly community in the form of reports. For the content and organisational implementation of the project, a scientific coordination office, material resources and funds for the organisation of workshops for young researchers will be applied for.
