Project Details
Efficient simulation framework to predict and optimally exploit chemo-physical processes in aged reinforced concrete (B05#)
Subject Area

Sub-project B05 is concerned with the development of a comprehensive simulation framework for the prediction of chemo-physically coupled processes in reinforced concrete. In this context, chemical exposure is understood not only as a source of material degradation, but also as an opportunity to improve the aged microstructure. B05 com-bines a two-scale FE-FFT-based method for describing the complex processes in concrete with a macroscopic FE-based method for the corrosion of reinforcing steel in one efficient simulation framework. In this way, B05 allows not only the calculation of the resulting material properties, but also statements about the load-bearing capacity of a reused element.
