Precise phenotyping of plants is of essential importance in disciplines ranging from molecular plant biology to ecology and agricultural sciences. We propose to establish a state-of-the-art system for plant phenotyping at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The Integrated Plant Phenotyping Platform (IP3) aims to significantly advance plant sciences by enabling systematic analysis of plant traits under both controlled and field-like conditions. Equipped with advanced modules for phenotyping, IP3 allows for an in-depth understanding of plant growth, development, and responses to environmental stresses, including drought. This platform supports a broad range of research from molecular plant biology to ecology and agricultural sciences, enhancing collaborative efforts across disciplines. A phenotyping platform like IP3 is crucial for advancing basic research in various areas at MLU and provides key insights that deepen our understanding of plant biology and its application in addressing global challenges.
