By combining experimental and theoretical approaches, we will investigate spin-orbit torques in two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures. Our focus will be on stacks comprising spin-orbit and magnetically ordered materials that include both conventional 3d transition metals and novel 2D magnets. We aim to study the efficiency of spin-orbit torque generation, energy-efficient magnetization switching, and the realization of novel spintronic functionalities in exotic 2D spin-orbit materials.
