The aim of the research project is to reconstruct connections between Jakob Moleschott, Hermann Lotze, Albert Schäffle and Friedrich Ratzel in a discursive field between 1850 and 1910. Its structure results from problems and themes of systemic agency and is reflected in models of various forms of self-activity which in turn require a new positioning of human agents in the terrestrial order of things.
