Experimentally supported derivation and initial application of predictive models for substrate comminution (A06)

The mechanical comminution of agricultural and forestry biomass will be investigated, i.e., the material and process-related influencing variables and the energies required for comminution, which are necessary for targeted substrate pretreatment. Based on this, a numerical model based on the discrete element method is created, in which each individual substrate particle and its comminution can be modelled inherently independently of the comminution process used. The comminution is modelled using sub-approaches with different resolutions, creating a runtime efficient digital twin of the comminution process.
