Known biological principles will be combined with experimental data to develop suitable mathematical models describing the relation and influence of process parameters for the complete process chain, such as substrate type, fungal growth rate, and the resulting composite material's properties. Based on this and available online measurements, soft sensors, i.e., mathematical tools and code, will be developed to monitor and estimate relevant process parameters and states that cannot be measured directly online.
