Project Details
Fungal composites with nanoparticles: Functionalisation and multiscale characterisation of physicochemical properties and thermal stability (B02)
Subject Area
Biomaterials
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 548244816
Suitable synthesis and nanofunctionalisation routes of fungal composites will be established. By comprehensively characterising differently cultivated, composed, and functionalised fungal composites, structure-property-relationships will be established, with the focus on building materials with suitable physicochemical properties, thermal stability, and environmental resilience. Functionalisation mechanisms, such as hyphal surface modifications and the diffusion of active components into cell walls, will be investigated to create durable materials.
