Molecular Chemistry
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 583981417
The planned upgrade of our 400 MHz AVANCE II system, following nearly two decades of continuous operation, while retaining the fully functional magnet, represents a key component of a comprehensive initiative to modernize routine NMR analytics within the Core Facility (CF) NMR in Saarbrücken. Our spectrometers (300–500 MHz) are essential for the structural elucidation of organic compounds (≤ 1000 Da), which predominantly originate from preparative research groups. For these groups, rapid access to state-of-the-art NMR experiments for 1H and 13C nuclei, as well as the capability to measure common heteronuclei, is an indispensable prerequisite for high-quality research. The renewed system, like its predecessor, will bear the primary workload of NMR sample analysis arising from diverse research projects in Pharmacy, Organic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry.
