Photophysical investigations of novel porphyrin-phtalocyanine supramolecular assemblies with directional photoinduced electron and energy transfer

The main goal of this collaborative project are photophysical investigations of designed porphyrin-phthalocyanine supramolecular arrays which can serve as efficient artificial photosynthetic systems. For this purpose specially organized self-assembling of porphyrin and phthalocyanine units by axial coordination and host-guest interactions in a supramolecular system will be used. The influence of the structure of the novel supramolecular complexes on their photophysical properties especially on efficacy of excitation energy utilization (absorption and charge separation) and charge-separated state lifetime will be investigated. This knowledge will be used for optimization of special photophysical properties through structural and complexation changes, allowing the development of new optical materials for efficient harvesting and conversion of sunlight.
