Development of multi-qubit spintronics device for quantum communication and computing by single NV centers in diamond

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2007 to 2011
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 61150930

Quantum communication and quantum computation are expected to establish a new paradigm in information technology and advance our understanding of quantum mechanics. It is considered that it will provide cryptography that can not be decoded and super parallel computation that is much faster than that of ordinary computers for certain applications. Besides these technical issues intriguing questions concerning quantum mechanical phenomena can be addressed, hi quantum communication and quantum computation, entanglement plays an important role. It contributes to the high-speed parallel computation and is a necessary resource for quantum communication such as quantum teleportation, super dense coding and high-speed transmission by quantum repeaters. For their realization, multi-qubit devices need to be engineered that use entanglement on a mesoscopic and macroscopic scale.
