Surface impact in polydisperse polymer systems

Subject Area Polymer Materials
Term from 2008 to 2012
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 67478662

The aim of this renewal proposal is the investigation the statics and dynamics of entropy controlled adhesion. We will use hairy filler particles in a polymer matrix to address the question at which frequency scales the interpenetration along with the associated entanglements are relevant for a stable mechanic contact between filler and matrix. The use of a multitude of matrix molecular weight will allow us to discriminate entanglement or swelling effects between the matrix and the hairy filler particles. The interplay between matrix and particles at the interface might play a major role for the mechanical response of the overall specimen at different time/frequency scales.
