Project Details
Dipolar EPR spectroscopy on membrane embedded transport complexes (P07)
Subject Area
Biophysics
Term
from 2008 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 57566863
In this project, we will use pulsed EPR spectroscopy to investigate the structure, dynamics, and conformational changes of membrane transport complexes in a detergent, lipid or cellular environment. In the new funding period we want to (i) further improve pulsed EPR methods for distance determinations in membrane proteins, (ii) investigate conformational changes and asymmetry of nucleotide loading states in heterodimeric TmrAB and Toc34-Toc159 complexes, (iii) study the structure and function of the 7TM inverted repeat membrane transporters SLC26 and UraA, and (iv) develop in-cell EPR spectroscopy methods for membrane transporters in bacteria.
