The project is based on the optical near-field interaction which is one of the core concepts in nanophotonics. In other words, fundamental physical processes in light-matter interactions at the nanometer-scale are the backbone of this project. Such a fundamentally important issue will provide long-lasting motivations for researchers in nanophotonics, indicating that the concept of the proposed project has a long term impact. On the other hand, in technical aspects, lasting innovations are expected both in materials as well as in characterization techniques, which could be quite different from the today’s technologies. In order to be involved in these technological innovations, it is important for both Japanese and German researchers to understand the state-of-the-art technology and to have intensive discussions. This cooperation aims at deriving the next-generation research themes and hence our cooperation will have high impact on technical aspects as well.
