Uncertainty of sudden failure due to buckling of axially loaded beam-columns in truss structures is con-trolled by active stabilization or active buckling control. Active buckling control of single beam-columns is achieved by piezo-elastic supports. Network control of multiple beam-columns with time-varying axial loads influences the global dynamic behavior of larger truss structures such as the SFB-demonstrator. Failures of individual truss components as well as unforeseen changes in geometry or dynamics over time are compensated by the active technology.
