Heterodinuclear complexes combining electron-rich transition metals and hard Lewis acids and their implementation in cooperative catalysis (B02)

Subject Area Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term from 2011 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 142808194

This 3MET project synthesizes bi- and trinuclear complexes of late transition metal centres - which serve for catalytic hydrogenation/hydroaminomethylation (rhodium, ruthenium), transfer hydrogenation (iron, ruthenium, and iridium), hydroamidation (gold) or various types of cyclisation reactions (gold) - and of hard Lewis acidic sites - which serve either to direct the substrate to the reactive site or to activate it for a transfor-mation at the late transition metal centre nearby. The project emphasizes that the geometry of the interconnecting ligand is crucial! The Bräse group will focus on more rigid systems mainly possessing [2,2]paracyclophane backbones, while the Thiel group will work on more flexible ligands, both exchanging progress and ideas frequently.
