Subject Area Prehistory and World Archaeology
Term since 2016
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290391021

Project D2 focusses on the transformation of ritual practices, economic patterns and the use of the environment by communities from the 4th to the 3rd millennium BCE in the area of the Lower Mountain Range of central and western Germany. To better understand the transition from the Late to the Final Neolithic periods and the underlying trans-regional phenomena in the diverse environment of the study area, the local and regional cultural developments are investigated in order to assess their potentially diverse trajectories. This focus will be on economic strategies (including tool production) and the study and comparison of processes of transformation, their speed and impact at different temporal scales.
