Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, University Library of Technische Universität Braunschweig and Bielefeld University Library intend to build a digital collection of historical German-language children’s and youth literature from 19th century. Focus of the collection which includes 15.000 bibliographical units are the years of publication from 1801 to 1914. This project called Digitization of 19th Century Children’s and Youth Literature is linked to the digitization strategy for prints of the 18th century which is funded extensively by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) in the framework of the project Digitization and Indexing of Printed Material Published in the 18th Century in the German-Speaking Areas (VD 18), and at the same time bridges the gap to those in the Project Europeana Collections 1914-1918 digitized children's and youth books.
