Projektkennung Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Projektnummer 100123712

Recent advances in deciphering the regulation and interactions between elements of biotic and abiotic stress signalling pathways have identified several regulatory factors that are implicated in coordinate control of both innate immunity and general defence responses to multiple forms of biotic and environmental stresses. A major aim of proposed trilateral collaborative research is to validate whether knowledge-based modification of some key regulators of these signalling cross-talks is suitable for significant improvement of multifactorial plant stress tolerance traits. The proposed project intends to channel know-how, technology developments and unique resources from basic research in specific areas of biotic and abiotic stress signalling to application-oriented developments by combining specific interests of German, Israeli and Palestinian partners in a versatile scientific and technology exchange platform. The project focuses on functional testing of candidate regulatory genes encoding transcription factors, protein kinases, proteasome modulators of innate immunity, as well as extra- and intracellular enzymes and stress metabolites, for their protective effects against pathogenic and osmotic stresses. Through assistance of German partners, the project also aims to strengthen research exchange, interaction and sustained active collaboration between the participating Israeli and Palestinian researchers and their institutions.
