SP B3 develops and analyses methods for the controlled generation of surface structures on tools for the sheet bulk metal forming process. Therefore, the simulation-based engineering of milling tools and the processes generating these structures is focused. This implies a substantial extension of the existing simulation system. Additionally abrasive wet blasting processes are analysed as an alterna-tive for the structure generation. Graded structures will be manufactured as well and the behaviour of the forming tools during their application is investigated in detail.
