The goal of this project is to further theoretical and empirical research on a cognitiveecological approach to decision making and to establish a network of leading scholars and an intensive exchange of young scientists. Unlike traditional research on behavioral decision making, which locates rationality in the human mind, the cognitive-ecological approach offers alternative explanations for many established findings and generates novel predictions that point out environmental constraints on rational decision making. These new findings have intriguing theoretical implications, and they offer practically important answers to urgent questions of the modern information societies. It is an auspicious precondition that many leading scientists in this area are willing to collaborate on the depicted project. The project will include a young scientist training program and establish an effective network. A distinct attempt will be made not only to present the results to experts but also to a broader public.
