Final Report Abstract
In summary, although their function as membrane barriers and/or organizers has been recognized previously, this is the first time that Septin proteins have been implicated in the regulation of Ca2+ entry in mammalian cells. Interestingly, a mitochondrial-associated form of Sept4 has been recently reported to be involved in the regulation of apoptosis and tumourigenesis in stem cells. Altogether, these results illustrate the potential impact and contribution of our screen to the cell biology.
