A1 addresses combinatory meaning adaptions within sentence composition. The main research focus lies on underspecification and coercion involved in the interpretation of modificational structures. Our previous results point towards a prominent role of the lexicon in combinatory meaning adaptions. These insights will be developed further into a dynamic approach to lexical semantics. This is achieved by including adaptive mechanisms in the lexical setup which become active in the course of composition and are sensitive to both compositionally and contextually supplied information. In par-ticular, we will explore the benefits of this approach for an analysis of phenomena that are standardly conceived of as challenges for compositionality.
