Organisation and realisation of meetings (season schools) within the priority program SPP 1315 "Biogeochemical Interfaces in Soil"

Subject Area Soil Sciences
Term from 2009 to 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 146946882

The research within the priority program (SPP) "Biogeochemical Interfaces in Soil" aims at the systematic structural characterisation and functional exploration of biogeochemical interfaces in soil and at unravelling their role for the fate and effect of organic chemicals. The final goal is to gain a mechanistic understanding of the complex interplay and interdependencies of the physical, chemical and biological processes operative at biogeochemical interfaces. To reach this goal, 21 individual research projects are involved in the SPP originating from different scientific disciplines such as soil science, molecular biology, materials science, colloid and interface science as well as analytical chemistry and computational chemistry. Intensive interdisciplinary cooperation and vivid exchange of conceptual theories and techniques are fundamental to develop the proposed SPP into a successful and far visible priority program with lasting impact. A central activity to obtain this is the realisation of meetings for SPP participants in the form of season schools and scientific meetings to ensure cooperation and exchange within both the SPP and the international scientific community.
